The term television is derived from mixed Greek and Latin roots which mean far sight. In Greek tele means far and in Latin sight means vision hence the term television. Televisions have been available commercially since the late 1930s, and nowadays the television has become an ordinary household communication device for institutions and homes, specifically as a source of news and entertainment. From 1970 onwards the video recordings on tapes or video cassettes and later on the digital video playback systems like DVDs, have equipped the television to be utilized to view recorded clippings and movies and other programs as well. |
